‘Shoe drive’ – a new way to raise money to help animals

“‘Forgotten 4-paws’ an animal welfare group, runs on donations only. Right now, they’re asking for your shoes. It’s part of a fundraiser [from] which the organization can get $1,000.”

“They take the shoes. They go to various facilities in the United States and sort them,”… “They then send them to countries Bolivia, Uganda, Haiti, and local people there sell the shoes to support their families”

Film star arrested for peaceful animal rights demonstration

Apparently demonstrations for animal rights are not welcomed in Iran.

“Hedieh Tehrani, a film star and animal rights activist, was arrested and charged along with 16 other people in Tehran on April 1, 2016 following a peaceful demonstration for animal rights.

“Tehrani and the other detainees initially resisted handing over their mobile phones and passwords at the police station on Vozara Street where they were taken, but ultimately relented. They were not given back their phones after they were released, according to the source.”  READ MORE ==>


One can only be thankful that those who support animal welfare in North America are not treated so harshly. We urge those who are free to call for the ethical treatment of all animals to do so on a regular basis.

Dog micro-chipping becomes compulsory across the UK

George Eustice, the [British] animal welfare minister, said: “We are a nation of dog lovers and we want to make sure they stay safe. Microchipping our dogs will not only reunite people with their lost or stolen pets but also help to tackle the growing problem of strays roaming the streets and relieve the burden placed on animal charities and local authorities.

Courtney Daniels is the lead actress, and she says…

“All the dogs that appear in the film are rescue animals; they did that on purpose.

“We really wanted to show that hey they can go on and make a Hollywood movie and if you’re looking for a specific breed you can find those at the shelters,” said Daniels.

April 4 is World Stray Animals Day

And Athens promoted animal adoption to honor the day.

“Dozens of abandoned dogs had a second chance to find a new home during a stray dog adoption event held in central Athens on Sunday, on the occasion of the World Stray Animals Day celebrated on April 4 each year since 2010.

“With the motto “Adopt, do not Buy”, the event which was hosted in a central square near the Greek parliament aimed to raise public awareness on the surging population of stray dogs in the Greek capital.”  READ MORE ==>
