Is something the matter with our zoos?
Zoological gardens, we have always been told, are places of learning where we can come face-to-face with the natural world, yet still stay close to home. A zoo has always seemed like an unparalleled opportunity to view animals as real living creatures and not just images in a picture book. What kind of things might we humans learn from donkeys?
When one family left the city to take up country life, they soon met a friend who owned donkeys. Then they took in Sherman, a little rescue donkey, of their own.
Something dawned on this group of donkey fans when they began to take their four-legged friends on their monthly runs through the countryside.
